Adopting healthy lifestyles, such as regular physical activity, eating a healthy diet avoiding tobacco, can reduce the risk of chronic diseases and reduce by half the rate of disability compared to those who do not.

The Minnesota Board on Aging conducts statewide public education and awareness campaigns targeted to older adults participating in senior dining and home-delivered meal programs; family caregivers and home- and community-based service providers to increase awareness of chronic disease, its symptoms and where to find resources and support; and to educate about health programs.
