Call for Presenters
You are invited to present at the
2009 Minnesota Age & Disabilities Odyssey

The Minnesota Department of Human Services Aging and Adult Services and Disability Services divisions and the Minnesota Board on Aging invite you to submit a presentation proposal for our 2009 Age & Disabilities Odyssey, “Building on a Strong Foundation.” The Odyssey will focus on dynamic, practical strategies to address:
- Community connections
- Health, wellness and long-term support
- Own place to live
- Important long-term relationships
- Control over supports
- Employment earnings and stable income
- Safety
The planning team is excited to be exploring the conference theme “Building on a Strong Foundation,” and we’re looking for folks who have talents, experiences and skills to share. Have you implemented a particularly successful program, policy, or project? Do you offer a specialized skill, knowledge or service? Have you done some interesting research? Have you learned something profound that would be useful for others to know about? If so, consider doing a conference workshop, open forum, poster session or roundtable discussion! Or maybe you have an idea for a workshop you’d like to attend or a particular speaker you’d like to hear.
The main conference is August 17-19, and includes breakout sessions, poster sessions or roundtable discussions of 75 minutes. These are all included in the conference registration. Pre-conference workshops will be held Monday morning, August 17. These are longer, more in-depth presentations or training sessions by invitation only.

We are seeking proposals from Minnesota-based professionals for workshops, open forums, roundtable discussions and poster sessions. We encourage presenters to be creative and submit original ideas at basic, intermediate, and advanced levels on topics of your choice that fit into one of the conference strategies. Proposals should address state initiatives, partnership development, coordination, and training that focus on the people we serve.

Audiovisual equipment
The conference will provide a podium, microphone, laptop computer, LCD projector and screen for each workshop or open forum. If you wish to show a clip from a video, this is possible with advance notice to conference staff. Presenters are responsible to order and pay for any audio-visual or equipment needed for their session other than what is provided. Session confirmation materials will include instructions for order and payment.
