Minnesota State Fair
August 28, 2017
This year the Minnesota Board on Aging (MBA) is serving up
Medicare-on-a-stick at the Minnesota State Fair. Bring your Medicare questions
to the Education Building for staff and volunteers who will be onsite every day.
You’ll also find helpful videos featuring answers to Medicare questions you
probably didn’t even know you had. The MBA booth is in the southeast corner of
the education building on Cosgrove Street, just north of Dan Patch Avenue.
New this year, the MBA is doing free balance screenings at
Health Fair 11 and providing information about preventing falls. Falls are the
second leading cause of injury-related death for people over 65. Learn about
your risk, and what you can do to avoid a fall. The Health Fair 11 building is
just down Dan Patch Avenue at the corner of Cooper Street.
In addition to Medicare,
volunteers and staff at the Board on Aging booth in the Education building will
provide information on a variety of topics around aging in place, long-term
care planning, and other issues of interest to older adults and their family
members. The booth is staffed by employees of the Board on Aging as well as
staff and volunteers from Minnesota’s Area Agencies on Aging and the Department
of Human Services.
Don’t forget, there are two designated Senior Discount days
– Monday, August 28th and Thursday, August 31st. Adults 65 and older
can purchase tickets at the gate on those days for just $9. Regular priced senior
admission is $12.
