MN Senior Volunteer Corps Programs
The Minnesota Board on Aging provides state funding to
support Senior Corps programs in Minnesota. Federal funding is administered by the
Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). Information about the federal
program can be found at www.seniorcorps.gov.
Three specific programs are included in Senior Corps:
- Foster Grandparent Program (FGP): Volunteers provide service to
children who have special or exceptional needs. Volunteers are income-eligible
people age 55 and over. They volunteer at least 15 hours a week and receive an
hourly stipend.
- Senior Companion Program (SCP): Volunteers provide
assistance to older adults to help them remain independent and living in their
own home. Volunteers are income-eligible people age 55 and over. They
volunteer at least 15 hours a week and receive an hourly stipend.
- RSVP: RSVP facilitates volunteerism and supports Minnesotans
age 55 and older to find and keep volunteer positions that address community
needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choices to its volunteers as it
matches the personal interests and skills with opportunities to serve in the
community.
