The Advocacy Leadership Certificate Program for Vital Aging

Call for Applicants

The Advocacy Leadership for Vital Aging certificate program is open to all who are interested in developing and practicing their leadership skills as advocates for vital aging.  The September 2004 – May 2005 program is designed for a diverse group of 30-35 adult learners of all ages interested in developing leadership strengths to help themselves and their communities.  Participant cost is $1,000.  Limited scholarships are available based on need and availability. 

Applications are due July 16, 2004.

Participant Benefits

  • Gain knowledge, skills, and confidence to advocate for yourself and others
  • Learn how to use information to organize and advocate for yourself and others at the community and state levels
  • Raise public awareness and advocacy on issues relevant to vital aging
  • Learn how to match personal interests with leadership needs of advocacy organizations
  • Expand your network
  • Develop individual plans for activities that will sustain your leadership work

Program Schedule

Most class sessions will be held on Fridays from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm at the College of Continuing Education Conference Center (formerly the Earle Brown Center) on the Saint Paul campus of the University of Minnesota, with the exception of the November and March sessions.
