Medical numbers to know

Rates, deductibles and premiums for various Medicare-related programs will be seeing slight shifts in 2002. Here are the new numbers compared to the 2001 figures.

Medicare A hospital deductible

Medicare Part B

Premium $50/month $54/month

New eligibility guidelines are also in place for other programs that provide medical help. The new guidelines are:

  • Medical Assistance: Monthly income of no more than $716 singles, $968 couples with assets limited to $3,000 singles and $6,000 couples.
  • Qualified Medicare Beneficiary: Monthly income of no more than $736 singles, $988 couples and assets of no more than $10,000 singles and $18,000 couples.
  • Service Limited Medicare Beneficiary: Monthly income of no more than $879 singles, $1,181 couples and assets of no more than $10,000 singles and $18,000 couples.
  • Qualified Individual 1: Monthly income of no more than $987 singles, $1,327 couples and assets of no more than $10,000 singles and $18,000 couples.
  • Qualified Individual 2: Monthly income of no more than $1,273 singles, $1,714 couples and assets of no more than $10,000 singles and $18,000 couples.
