Let’s
try for an Oscar
It’s not enough
to glimpse a rainbow – we must try to capture its
radiance for all to enjoy. To improve discernment,
we must find new lenses. The
"ophthalmologists" among us have held many
recent seminars to improve our vision. We have
undertaken a study to reshape the role that Area
Agencies on Aging (AAAs) must play in the near
future. Our lenses have also focused on long-term
care reform, age-sensitive community planning,
increased senior housing supply and broad health
support programs. We are also driving for improved
transportation, especially in rural areas.
We hope the new
lenses will help us peer into the future and convey
to all citizens the vital interconnection between
these programs as each segment forms a significant
part of the total rainbow pattern.
After we have used
our great new lenses, we will try to select new
state of the art hearing aids so we can listen with
enhanced clarity to our seniors on their concerns.
Access through our Senior LinkAge Line® to the
multiple services currently available using the
clear, highly audible, easily understood
information, will close the circuit.
Let’s give a
cheer for Judy Garland as she moves up the yellow
brick-road with us singing "Over the
Rainbow," so that all seniors can enjoy the
radiance when the screen finally lights up reading:
THE END.
