Family caregiving for seniors by
family members, friends and neighbors continues to be the primary
source of support for individuals who need assistance to remain in
their communities. Informal or unpaid care is estimated to account
for 95% of all care given to older adults. Decreased family size,
increased numbers of women in the workforce, and the increased
longevity of older adults is affecting the scope and duration of
family caregiving. The following Internet sites have information
relevant to parents, children of parents, spouses and others faced
with the role of caring for a family member.
Caregiver web sites listed here
include government, non-profit and commercial sites. There are state
specific sites with caregiver information links and articles that
provide information of general use to family caregivers. The sites
offer educational information beyond the interests of the sponsoring
organizations, allowing viewers to navigate to other sites that may
have more information about caregiving topics. Not included are
sites that are limited to promoting only their product or service,
that lack information of general interest, and that do not have
links to other sites. If you cannot find the information you seek
