Medicare Bill passes Senate 54-44

Statement of the Board: The Minnesota Board on Aging supports choices and the availability of options for seniors and all Medicare Beneficiaries. The drug benefit provided in the new Medicare bill passed by the House and Senate gives consumers another option. The ability to make choices and have the correct information about options is what helps seniors and their families make good decisions about their long-term care needs so that seniors can remain independent and live at home.

In addition to what’s outlined in the Medicare Bill, there are also other options available to assist people such as RxConnect™, the state’s prescription drug clearinghouse service for people who need help with their prescription drugs.

Please feel free to contact us and utilize us as a resource for questions you may have about the bill and its changes. The MBA is the federally designated Medicare Health Insurance Counseling service of Minnesota (SHIP). Therefore, the Senior LinkAge Line at 1-800-333-2433 is your tool to get comprehensive information about about Medicare and other programs that are available throughout the state.
